Fandom Specifics

XO, Kitty (TV)

Oh, how I adore this sappy, kind of cringy, coming of age teen drama. I watched it before even knowing the original source material that it was based on. I saw a clip on Twitter of the scene with Kitty’s dream in season 1 and knew I had to watch it, because in true sapphic form, I gravitate towards anything that could have the potential for a sapphic relationship. That may have gotten me in, but what really kept me watching was the journey surrounding Kitty and her mom. I felt that that was where the true heart of the story was. I hope they return to it in season 3. 

 

Katherine “Kitty” Song-Covey/Yuri Han

I know I’m in the minority here, but kittyuri is my favorite Kitty ship, followed by daekitty and then mooncovey. I just like how unexpected they were. From the way the show was marketed in the beginning, it didn’t seem like Yuri was even an option, but then there was the surprise twist in season one episode 6. I’m rooting for Yuri’s redemption and full feelings realization in season 3. They deserve to be endgame, and I’ll keep saying it, even though I’m like 80% sure they won’t be. Their tropes are unmatched, like that invisible string, enemies to friends to future lovers serve! Nothing compares. 

 

Madison Miller/Mihee Yoon

This is such a crackship, but hear me out! I would love to see more of their interactions. I know I wasn’t the only one who noticed the way Mihee did Madison’s hair at the cabin during Seollal, or the mention that they planned the Cherry Blossom Ball together, or the fact they danced together at it! I’m a yoonmiller truther, and I believe in the bi-Madison agenda. Like, come on, one of her conclusions about Kitty’s letter was that Yuri wrote it about her! There is no way that girl is straight. I also think Mihee changed Madison’s mind about casual dating, as in the first season, she expressed how she never wanted anything serious with Min Ho. 

 

Possible Prompts

-Canon divergence scenarios (e.g Kitty and Yuri dancing together at the cherry blossom ball instead of Kitty and Min Ho, Min Ho not interrupting their moment after watching the tape of Kitty’s mom, getting a longer moment on top of that mountain in season 1 episode 4 before Dae makes it to the top, etc.) 

-Post-season 2 imaginings (e.g. Yuri crashing a date between Kitty and Min Ho, Yuri taking Kitty’s measurements for a dress, Kitty comforting Yuri after the lawsuit, etc.) 

-A soulmate au (literal red string of fate, perhaps, identifying marks, counters, whatever you want) 

-A different first meeting (what if Kitty met both Dae and Yuri at Namsan Tower? What if they met in Portland during one of Yuri’s dad’s business trips? Something like that) 

-The behind-the-scenes planning of the Cherry Blossom Ball with Madison and Mihee 

-Madison realizing that she wants to try an actual relationship the more she spends time with Mihee 

-Kitty enlisting Madison and Mihee’s help in planning Lara Jean and Peter’s wedding 

 

Additional note: While these four are formatted as two separate ships, you are welcome to feature the other set of characters in your fic if it’s about one ship or the other, if you so wish. I also don’t object to including non-nominated characters, such as Dae, Juliana, and Praveena. 
 

NMIXX (Band)

I have to admit; I was one of the many who didn’t get O.O at first, but by DICE I was completely enchanted by these girls and their concept, strong vocals, and personalities. I was here for Jinni’s departure and eventual solo debut and will always support the members in whatever comes in the future. Blue Valentine is an absolute banger of an album and deserves so much recognition. Sure, NMIXX has a polarizing sound, but damn, do they put in the work. They’re one group I’m truly proud to stan. 

Lily Marrow/Oh Haewon

Lily, oh, what are we to do about your total downbadism for Haewon? It’s so obvious that girl loves her. How are you blushing, swooning, giggling, kicking your feet every time Haewon does anything in your direction, Lily? And Haewon too! Like you're not fooling anyone with those yearning eyes. Not to mention all the times Lily said she and Haewon would be the parents of NMIXX. The way they refused to do the pepero game together with the excuse Haewon was sick? The yuriful Blue Valentine concept photo? Their backstory with joining JYPE? Fuck it, I’m haely. 

 

Bae Jinsol | Bae/Kim Jiwoo

I’ve been on this train since Jiwoo’s Instagram post showcasing her face covered in kisses from Bae. I know sullbae is the more popular pairing, but jjyusol have their questionable moments too. Jiwoo looks at Bae like she hung the stars at times and it makes me so crazy about them. Oh, don’t let me forget the Spinnin’ On It Saja Boys version where Bae kissed Jiwoo’s hand, that time they tried to do a yoga pose and Jiwoo ended up falling on top of Bae, resulting in a compromising position, and their moments in livestreams and stage. Man, I’m in rarepair hell. 

Possible Prompts

Additional note: While Sullyoon has not been explicitly requested, I don’t oppose her inclusion in whatever way you like, to make Jiwoo jealous, to act as a matchmaker for Lily and Haewon, etc. And even though Kyujin wasn’t nominated, feel free to include her as well, if you want. My personal favorite ship for Kyujin is Hong Eunchae from LE SSERAFIM, but I don’t mind her with Sullyoon either or being included in a way to make Bae jealous. 
 

Thai GL RPF

I’ve been watching Thai GL since 2022, when Gap: The Series made it big and put it on people’s radar. I honestly haven’t been keeping up with many this season since there have been a lot more coming out in the past couple of years, but I do have a kind of soft spot for IdolFactory GLs. I’ve watched every GL they’ve produced so far. Other favorites include The Secret of Us, 23.5, and Queendom. I have yet to watch Pluto, Us, Affair, and Whale Store xoxo, but they’re on the list. I’m so proud of how far we’ve come in terms of the production of GL, and I just hope we continue this trajectory in the future. My favorite couple pairings include, but aren’t limited to: FreenBecky, FayMay, MilkLove, NamtanFilm, and LingOrm. 

 

Fay Kunyaphat Na Nakhorn/May Yada Watcharamusik

These two are dating in real life; I know it, I just can’t prove it. Fay’s “My best Osaka view” tweet with a black-and-white photo of May’s side profile and the skyline in the background; the Osaka fan meeting where they just went for it in the Pocky game; the entire FayMayNeen vlog series. Everything about them just screams girlfriend. They’re also shipping gold. The taller younger person x older shorter person dynamic, the clinginess, sense of adventure, supportiveness. I love them dearly. Watch Somewhere Somehow if you haven’t yet. 

Arhoung Nattawadee Pipobpornchai/Pam Tarradee Watancharoen

I just think these two are absolutely adorable. They are so princess-coded, and their chemistry is some of the best I’ve ever seen out of Thai GL. Their height difference is so delicious. They are so ragebaiter x ragebaited and I find that so incredibly endearing. Arhoung loves to tease, and Pam falls for it every time. They fit together and know each other so well. You can see how comfortable they are with each other, like the time they made each other flower arrangements, picked outfits for each other, and bought each other gifts matching their tastes. Everybody should go watch Queendom. It is so amazing yet so underrated.

Law School (TV)

I originally watched this drama for a class about the representation of law in popular media. I wrote an essay about how the show demonstrates popular legal culture with how it shows the intensity of the law school experience from both the students’ and professor’s point of view, while also addressing differences between the Korean and United States legal systems. I didn’t expect to love the show as much as I did. It made me sort of anxious for my own law school experience, but low-key in a good way. I know most likely my school won’t be the center of a murder mystery that my professors would use as a case, and can appreciate the dramatics of it from the comfort of my own home. 

 

Kang Sol A/Kang Sol B

They had so much potential! The contrast between the both of them made for insane tension and drama. Their rivals to friends/teammates serve was iconic. I really enjoyed how they warmed up to each other by the end with that competition and the party where Sol A handed Sol B a drink after overhearing Sol B compliment her on her job during the competition even though they didn’t win. The fact that they were roommates too just does something to me. You can’t tell me they didn’t have an angry make-out session at least once when they were rivals. 

Possible Prompts

-A post-canon fic exploring Sol B as a Judge and Sol A as an attorney 

-Late night study dates in the dorm 

-Sol B caring for a drunk Sol A 

-Addressing their inferiority complexes 

-What happens during their other years in law school 

-Sol B meets Sol A’s family 

 

Additional Note: While Joon Hwi and Ye Seul haven’t been explicitly requested, I also really enjoyed their characters in the show and wouldn’t mind their inclusion. I think the idea of Sol A/Sol B/Joon Hwi is interesting, in whatever way you want to interpret the dynamic. 

 

ゆるキャン△ | Yuru Camp | Laid-Back Camp (Anime)

I love cute girls doing cute things, what can I say? This anime is so comforting, and although I’ve never been camping, the way they show it makes it seem so idyllic. I would’ve loved to be in a club like the outdoors club in high school. It would’ve been so fun to just hang out with a group of people and go on a hike, fish, or go camping. When I want to feel like I’m being wrapped up in a warm blanket in the cold of winter, this is the show I go back to. I was in an anime club in college, and this is what we watched after Violet Evergarden broke our hearts. This anime is healing. 

 

Inuyama Aoi/Oogaki Chiaki

I love a tsundere x bubbly girl type beat. It’s such a fun trope. Chiaki is not the kind of person who lets people in very easily and it’s fun to see how she warms up to the other girls as they spend more time together. Inuko, on the other hand, is the fun-loving, always up for anything kind of person. They build the perfect dynamic. It’s also sad to see them relegated as a side pairing to Rin/Nadeshiko. No hate to them at all, I love whatever they have going on as well, but I would love to see more of Aoi and Chiaki as a stand-alone pairing. 

Possible Prompts

-a biking au where Inuko is a pro biker in something like the Tour de France and Chiaki is a journalist writing about her 

 

Additional Note: While I’m not opposed to the inclusion of Rin and Nadeshiko, I would like the focus to be on Aoi and Chiaki, so take that as you will.
